LIFE'S LANDLORD
As he lay in bed sleeping
there was a knock upon the door
his nightmare come a calling,
the landlord of us all.
We are just tenants in a motel,
the motel of all life
and now the mighty landlord
(our lease expired)
is ushering in the night.
He piled up his belongings
against the motel door,
hoping against all hope
to defy that which he saw.
But Death will not be stopped
and soon had him in its grasp
despite all resistance
Death completes his task.
They buried his in a coffin
it was quite a touching sight,
dozens of people mourning
the ending of his life.
But people soon get over
even such a terrible blow
and begin to realise
that people will come and go.
No matter how you struggle
one of nature's laws,
whether seen as gift or punishment
"All must make the giant leap
into Death's unknown jaws".
